Objective

GDP, Good Distribution Practice, provides good insight into the regulatory requirements for the handling and distribution of medicines and other active pharmaceutical substances (APIs) and what happens when the requirements are not complied with. This introductory course provides answers to these key questions.

The course is aimed at professionals working in pharmaceutical companies with responsibilities in storage, distribution, distributors as well as carriers.

The course is an introductory course in GDP but can also be done for repetitive purposes.
Course coordinator and expert is Katarina Elgenstierna, former Head of Regulatory Affairs & Product Quality at Roche and now active as an independent consultant.

Course content

Course participants will be well acquainted with the rules regarding:
  • How medicines in the supply chain are approved in accordance with EU
    legislation.
  • How medicines are stored under the right conditions at all times. That
    includes during transport.
  • The importance of avoiding product contamination.
  • The importance of sufficient turnover of stored drugs.
  • How the right products have to reach the right addressee within a
    satisfactory time period.
  • The importance of the distributor’s tracking system that enables finding
    and recalling faulty products.
  • How pirated products are detected and handled correctly.
